The Logo, the Vision
History

As we steer humanity towards a more just and sustainable future, it is important that we be clear about what we are doing. Therefore, our name directly expresses who we are working for: All Humanity. Similarly, our logo carries powerful messages of how we see this change happening in our world. Below is an explanation of some of these ideas, with the recognition that the shape, as it appeared organically, will to continue to inspire new thoughts and suggest new meanings among the diverse persons who come upon it.

  The world is spinning.

-The logo is an active, moving shape because the world is changing, just as we must do. As Howard Zinn points out, “You can’t be neutral on a moving train.” Thus, as the world changes and grows, so must we learn to change and grow with it.

We are in this together.

-Typically, when viewing a circular representation of the Earth, you may only see one hemisphere. However, our logo includes the whole world in one circle to emphasize that we must not leave out anyone if we are to develop sustainable and just peace.

Rethink your world.

-The world is upside down because positive change requires a change in perspective. In order to shift our thinking to solutions, we can’t keep thinking through the problems. Looking at things in more than the customary way, it is possible to notice things that we never would have seen before. This ability is essential if we are to cultivate a new way of living.

It looks like a yin-yang.

-It is analogous to the yin-yang in that moderation and balance are important in reaching peace. This is not about all moving to one model or one reality, to live For All Humanity is to honor the diversity of our perspectives, always keeping in view the whole peace that is composed of our diverse understanding.

So why three parts?

-While a yin-yang consists of two parts, the FAH logo consists of three. This is comment on the movement to grow beyond a politics and society of duality and polarization. To recognize all humanity, is to see that we exist in a more colorfully pluralized world than merely two sides could represent. Specifically there are three here, as three is a commonly recurring and important number in diverse cultures, religions, and other traditions. Seeing these we make a commitment to not become polarized, divisive, closed-minded and slaves to our own mental trappings.

Order within the chaos.

-While the three asymmetrical, varied sections are swirling around the outside, there is a perfect equilateral triangle in the middle, symbolizing the order and peace that can be found when we all start to move together. As the swirling of many communities and cultures starts to flow together in respect for the web that flows through all things, the order that comes out of the middle brings true unity within diversity.
